Shakyamuni Tibetan Buddhist Center hosts a study group on Essence of Refined Gold (2nd revised edition) by the Third Dalai Lama, translated by Glenn H. Mullin. Students read aloud from the text, comment and discuss the readings, then discuss how they have changed through the practice of Dharma.

Tonglen Group

Tonglen is the Buddhist practice of giving away all that is positive and good to those who are suffering, and taking in all that is negative and harmful. Powerful in practice, Tonglen is used as a meditation technique for developing equanimity, compassion, and healing.

Cittamani Tara Group

Tara is the female emanation of the Buddha and the mother figure in Tibetan Buddhism. In this practice we make requests to Tara for beings who are experiencing illness or difficulties.This group has been meeting since August of 2001 when Geshe Kalsang Damdul suggested we practice this abbreviated Cittamani Tara form.
