Shakyamuni Tibetan Buddhist Center Mission
STBC is dedicated to providing an opportunity for teaching, study, and practice of the dharma, following His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, within an authentic Gelugpa lineage. We pledge to support the members and practitioners of the STBC community in these goals, and we welcome all others who share in these goals to join us.About the Shakyamuni Tibetan Buddhist Center
STBC is a community of Tibetan Buddhist students and practitioners, rooted in the Gelugpa tradition. When our esteemed Spiritual Director and Teacher, the Venerable Geshe Kalsang Damdul is in Portland, he leads us in classes, practice sessions, meditation sessions, and retreats. When he is not here, we gather together for dharma classes, study, and practice led by a few of the senior students, on a regular basis. We also have a year-round email prayer group that responds to requests for prayers for anyone in difficulty. Over the years, we have invited many visiting Venerable Lamas, Teachers, Scholars, and Artists’ groups, and by doing so we have supported the efforts of Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and nunneries all over the world. We occasionally host community fund-raising dinners and events. We also welcome friends from all other Buddhist groups to participate in the practices, teaching programs, rituals, educational events, celebrations, and social activities of our organization. In addition, we encourage exchanges and dialogue with people of all religious faiths, in an effort to create harmony and better understanding between the members of all religious traditions.STBC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit religious organization, registered with the State of Oregon.
